How-to guide · chapter 8 of 10
Work the inbox
Grouping, filters, assigning, resolving and alerts.
Everything BugTape receives lands in Issues. This chapter shows how to find what matters and keep the list short.
How grouping works
Reports of the same failure are grouped into one issue. The issue shows how many times it happened, when it was first and last seen, which releases, platforms and environments it hit and, if you use identify, who was affected. Open an issue to see each report underneath it.
The tabs
- Unresolved: what still needs work.
- Recommended: the issues BugTape ranks as most worth fixing first. Coding agents read the same list.
- Resolved: fixed issues. If one comes back in a later release, it is marked as a regression.
- Archived: issues you chose to ignore.
Filters
Search by title, and filter by severity, platform, layer or Reported by users (only reports from the bug-report button). Mine and Unassigned narrow the list to one person. Filters are part of the address, so you can bookmark or share a view, and Pin view makes it your default.
Act on an issue
- Assign it to a teammate, who gets notified.
- Watch it to hear about new reports.
- Resolve or archive it, one at a time or in bulk.
- Send to agent hands it to your coding agent (see the next chapter).
Alerts
Open Settings → Integrations to post new and returning issues to Slack, Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp, GitHub issues or your own webhook. Settings → Notifications controls your own email. On the Alerts page you set how serious an issue must be before anyone is alerted, quiet hours, and rules for noise you never want to see.
