Changelog
What changed in BugTape, by date.
These are the changes that are live on app.bugtape.ai, newest first. Agents can read the current facts in /llms.txt.
- Connect your agent by signing in. The MCP server at https://app.bugtape.ai/mcp now supports OAuth 2.1 sign-in. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex need only the URL, and a person approves the connection in BugTape. MCP calls now need a sign-in or an agent token; pasted
bt_pat_tokens still work. - The bugtape CLI.
npx -y https://app.bugtape.ai/cli/bugtape-0.1.1.tgz connect claude(orcursor, codex, grok) connects an agent with one approval in the browser. The same CLI can set up capture in a repository. CLI docs. - Agents can set up capture. A new permission lets an agent you allow create a project and its capture key.
- MCP on every plan. Free workspaces can connect a coding agent. On Free and Prepaid credits, each agent read of a bug costs 2 credits; on Pro, agent reads are free.
- Browser SDK on npm.
npm install @bugtape/sdkinstalls the same SDK as the hosted module. It has no runtime dependencies. The script tag still works and still updates with every release. - Node.js and Python SDKs on npm and PyPI.
npm install @bugtape/nodeandpip install bugtape. When you do not set a release, both now read the deployed commit from common hosting platforms. - Notifications in the console and as push. A bell in the console collects your notifications. Turn on browser push for the events you choose in Settings → Notifications; quiet hours apply. On iPhone, add the console to your Home Screen first.
- Approve fix. Approve a fix on an issue and BugTape watches for the failure in later releases. A Watching row shows what it checks.
- Regressions for commit-SHA releases. If your release is a git commit SHA or a build id, BugTape now flags a regression when an approved fix fails again in a later release. Reports with no release get a warning in the response.
- Live hand-off. The issue page shows each step as it happens: sent to the agent, delivered, picked up and pull request opened, with no reload. A person can also take an issue.
- Billing page. Plan and usage moved from Settings to its own Billing page in the sidebar.
- Checkout and tax. Payments go through Link, Stripe’s checkout, which adds any sales tax, VAT or GST for your country. Set a monthly spending limit in Billing.
- One console address. Sign-up and sign-in links on bugtape.ai now open app.bugtape.ai, so you have one console session.
- Cleaner reports. The browser SDK no longer records its own requests in reports.
- Agents as teammates. The Team page lists agents next to people. Add an agent creates the agent’s token and shows its own connect step.
- Sealed client details. Mark text with
data-bugtape-tokenand it leaves the browser as a placeholder, sealed with your public key. BugTape stores it but cannot read it; your team opens it in the console with your private key.
- Node.js SDK.
@bugtape/nodereports uncaught exceptions, unhandled rejections, Express 5xx errors with the route pattern, and Next.js request errors. Messages are redacted before they leave your server. Node.js docs.
- Strict privacy mode. Set
privacy: 'strict'and page text becomes solid blocks in the browser before a report is sent. Setup offers Standard, Strict and Errors only. - Python SDK.
bugtapereports uncaught exceptions, error log records and Streamlit page errors, with messages redacted by pattern. Python docs. - Datadog links. When Datadog runs in your app, each BugTape issue links to its Datadog trace or RUM session. Use BugTape with Datadog.
- Security page. A security page says where data is stored, who processes it and how long it is kept.
- Choose the bug-report button. Set
showButton: falseto hide the floating button. Automatic capture still runs, and you can open the form from your own link. - Reported by users. A new Issues filter shows only the bugs your users reported with the button.
- Invite codes. A sign-up link can carry an invite code with prepaid credits, so the new workspace starts with Pro limits.
- How-to guide. A 10-chapter guide takes you from sign-up to bugs your agent can fix.
- Credits give you Pro. A Free workspace that holds prepaid credits gets every Pro limit and feature.
- Send to agent reaches every agent. Issues you send to an agent now come first in its list, so agents that do not listen for new issues still get them.
- Prepaid credits. $10 buys 2,000 credits that never expire, with a monthly spending limit you set. Pricing.
- Agent progress updates. When an agent picks up a bug or opens a pull request, BugTape posts an update to your team, for example in Slack, and emails the people who watch the bug.
