Best bug reporting tools for web apps (2026)

Jam, Marker.io, BugHerd, Userback, Gleap, Usersnap, SnagRelay, Sentry, LogRocket and BugTape by job: free plan, entry price and MCP for your agent.

There is no single best bug reporting tool. Pick by who starts the report. If a teammate or client shows you the bug, use Jam for software teams, Marker.io or BugHerd for client websites, Userback for product teams, Bird Eats Bug for screen recordings with logs, or SnagRelay for QA and client testing. If your users report bugs from inside your app, use Gleap or Usersnap. If nobody reports the bug at all, you need automatic capture: Sentry with replay if you want a broad monitor, LogRocket if you want session replay and product analytics in one tool, or BugTape (our product) if you want each failure grouped into one issue for your coding agent.

No account: npx -y bugtape --help prints the commands and does not sign you in. The demo MCP at https://app.bugtape.ai/demo/mcp needs no sign-in. Your own workspace needs one.

Disclosure

I build BugTape and it is on this list. Every other row comes from that vendor's own pricing page and homepage, read on 26 October 2026. I did not test their products for this post.

A person records the bug

  • Jam makes a screen recording or a screenshot and keeps the logs, network requests, user events and device details with it (jam.dev, checked 26 Oct 2026). The free plan includes MCP, so your agent can read a Jam. See Jam vs BugTape.
  • Marker.io calls itself a website feedback and visual annotation tool, and its reports carry screenshots, annotations and technical metadata (marker.io, checked 26 Oct 2026). It suits agencies that collect client feedback on live sites. See Marker.io vs BugTape.
  • BugHerd lets clients point, click and comment on a live website. Each comment is pinned to the page element and records the browser, screen resolution and device details (bugherd.com, checked 26 Oct 2026). See BugHerd vs BugTape.
  • Userback gives product teams one place for user feedback. A bug report can include annotated screenshots, video recordings and console logs, and session replay shows what the user did first (userback.io, checked 26 Oct 2026).
  • Bird Eats Bug records the screen with console output and network traffic, from a browser extension or a web widget. Its homepage says it is now Bug Capture by BrowserStack and can also watch for errors in the background (birdeatsbug.com, checked 26 Oct 2026). Its pricing page says Bug Capture is now free with BrowserStack plans, and it lists two Premium prices ($100 and $200 a month), so confirm the price with BrowserStack (birdeatsbug.com/pricing, checked 26 Oct 2026).
  • SnagRelay is built for QA, user acceptance and client testing. Testers click Report, point at the problem and say what they expected. The report adds console errors with file and line, requests with their bodies, the steps and a screenshot (snagrelay.com, checked 26 Oct 2026). Its free plan includes MCP. See SnagRelay vs BugTape.

Users report from a widget in your app

  • Gleap lets customers report bugs from your app or website with a screenshot, console logs and custom data. Session replay is a separate feature from the Team plan up (gleap.ai/pricing, checked 26 Oct 2026).
  • Usersnap aims at enterprise product teams and collects annotated screen-capture tickets (usersnap.com, checked 26 Oct 2026).

Capture the failures nobody reports

Some users who hit a failure leave without telling you. These tools record without a click.

  • Sentry is the broad choice. It calls itself application performance monitoring, and links errors, logs, replays and traces (sentry.io, checked 26 Oct 2026). Every plan includes replays (sentry.io/pricing, checked 26 Oct 2026). If you already run Sentry, add its replay and MCP before you add another tool.
  • LogRocket replays sessions and adds error tracking and product analytics (logrocket.com, checked 26 Oct 2026). Pick it when you want session replay and product analytics in one tool. See BugTape vs LogRocket.
  • BugTape captures uncaught errors, failed requests and requests that hang, with a browser replay rebuilt from DOM events (not screen video). Repeats become one issue with a count. Your coding agent reads the issue over MCP, you review the pull request, and BugTape reopens the issue if the failure returns in a later release.

BugTape's limits: it records no video. Screenshots and voice notes in the report form are not available yet. Server SDKs send errors with no replay or console. The Swift SDK captures handled errors and breadcrumbs only, with no fatal crash capture. BugTape is hosted only, so you cannot self-host it.

FAQ

What is the best free bug reporting tool?

Jam, Userback, Bird Eats Bug and SnagRelay have free plans for reports a person makes. Sentry and BugTape have free plans for automatic capture. Marker.io, BugHerd, Gleap, Usersnap and LogRocket offer trials but no free plan.

Which bug reporting tools can my coding agent read?

The pricing pages of Jam, Marker.io, BugHerd, Userback (Team and above), Gleap (Team and above), Usersnap, SnagRelay, Sentry, LogRocket and BugTape all list MCP. Bird Eats Bug does not mention MCP on its pricing page.

Do I need a report widget and an error monitor?

Often yes. A widget catches what people notice and report. An error monitor or BugTape catches failures that nobody reports.

Is BugTape a replacement for Jam or Marker.io?

No. Jam and Marker.io are for a person showing a bug with a recording or an annotated screenshot. BugTape captures failures automatically and has an optional bug button, but it records no video, voice or screenshots.

Can I try BugTape without an account?

Yes. The read-only demo MCP at https://app.bugtape.ai/demo/mcp needs no sign-in. The Free plan needs no card.
