Marker.io alternatives in 2026: six tools compared on price, replay and MCP
BugHerd, Userback, Jam, Gleap, Sentry User Feedback and BugTape compared with Marker.io on free plan, entry price, replay, console and network, and MCP.
Short answer: If you want client and QA feedback on a live site with a lower entry price, look at BugHerd or Userback. If a person recording the bug with console and network attached suits you better than a widget, look at Jam. If you want bug reporting inside a support suite, look at Gleap. If your team already uses Sentry, its User Feedback widget is the cheapest place to start. BugTape is the different option. I built it to catch the failures real users hit in the browser and never report, and to hand them to your coding agent over MCP with the evidence attached. It has no screenshots, no annotation and no client-facing review flow.
No account: npx -y bugtape --help prints the commands and does not sign you in. The demo MCP at https://app.bugtape.ai/demo/mcp needs no sign-in. Your own workspace needs one.
Marker.io is a good tool. Reporters are free and unlimited on every plan, it plugs into the common issue trackers, it lists SOC 2 Type II, and its MCP server is on every plan. Read Marker.io vs BugTape before you decide to leave it.
Page owner: Jaco Veldsman, hi@bugtape.ai. Last checked 2026-11-04. I build BugTape, so read the BugTape row with that in mind. Every other row comes from the vendor's own pricing page or docs on 4 November 2026, linked below. Prices change, so check their sites before you buy.
Why people look for a Marker.io alternative
The reasons are usually price and plan tiers. Marker.io has no free plan in the list I checked. Starter is $39 a month billed annually ($59 monthly) for 3 team members, and it has no session replay, console logs or network requests. Those start on Team at $149 a month billed annually ($199 monthly) for 15 members. A small team that wants technical context with each report pays for the higher tier, so it compares other tools. Others find that their worst bugs never come through a widget at all, because nobody reports them.
Where BugTape fits
BugTape is the narrow option on this list. Nobody has to open a widget. The browser SDK keeps a short buffer and sends it when it sees an uncaught error, a failed request after a user action, or a request that hangs. Users can also file a report from an optional bug button, which attaches the report text and the last ten minutes of page activity. Repeats of the same failure become one issue, and your agent reads the evidence over MCP.
What you give up: no screenshots, no annotation, no website monitoring, no client review flow. BugTape has no Marker.io or Jam integration, and it does not read their reports. It has no tracing, logs or self-hosting. Browser replay is rebuilt from DOM events and is web only. Data is stored in Sydney. If clients need to mark up a page, use Marker.io or one of the feedback tools. See Marker.io vs BugTape.

How I'd choose
| If you need… | Pick |
|---|---|
| Clients and QA mark up a live site, with replay and console on Team | Stay on Marker.io |
| A cheaper seat-based client feedback tool | BugHerd or Userback |
| Testers record bugs with voice and context | Jam |
| Bug reports next to live chat and support | Gleap |
| User feedback in the tool that already holds your errors | Sentry |
| Failures nobody reports, grouped, and read by your coding agent | BugTape, next to whichever tool you keep |
| Screenshots, annotation, accessibility scans or SSO | Not BugTape |
Notes on each tool
- Marker.io. Besides the widget and extension, it has website monitoring for accessibility (WCAG), content quality and broken links. Agency is $99/mo annually for eligible agencies. Business is custom and adds SSO, data masking, webhooks, Azure DevOps, Zendesk and Intercom.
- BugHerd. Installs by JavaScript tag or browser extension. It takes feedback on websites, Figma, PDFs and images, and gives a 60-day money-back guarantee. Extra members are $8 a month. Premium ($125/mo yearly, $150 monthly) has 25 members and Jira, Asana, Linear, ClickUp and Monday.com.
- Userback. Business ($89/mo annually) adds replay, console and network, and Jira and ClickUp two-way sync. Business Plus ($159/mo annually) adds the mobile SDK, REST API, webhooks and privacy masking.
- Jam. It records through a Chrome extension, Jam for Mac and an iOS app, and customers can record through Recording Links. The MCP reads Jams but cannot record one.
- Gleap. It is a support suite with bug reporting. On Team ($149/mo yearly), its Kai Code agent opens pull requests, and AI is billed by usage.
- Sentry. The widget collects a description, screenshot, email, up to 60 s of replay and the URL. Whether Sentry's MCP returns User Feedback items to an agent: not yet tested.
