# BugTape vs SnagFrog

SnagFrog is a user bug-report tool for indie apps and games: a web widget, a native macOS Swift helper and a Godot 4 addon, with two-way email to reporters. BugTape captures silent failures without a click and groups them with browser replay for your agent.

No account: `npx -y bugtape --help` prints the commands and does not sign you in. MCP needs one sign-in.

## What SnagFrog publishes

Checked on SnagFrog's own site on 2026-10-16:

- Web widget, a native macOS Swift helper, and a Godot 4 addon.
- Two-way email with reporters.
- MCP server (15 tools) plus a Claude skill.
- Automatic error capture is opt-in: grouped errors and crashes from the widget, Swift helper and Godot addon, with 14-day history and a regression flag.
- No session replay, tracing or source maps — SnagFrog's own FAQ says so.
- 30-day free trial, no card, then Indie at $9/month.

## What BugTape does

BugTape does not record every visit. It keeps a short buffer and sends it with a supported error or a user report. Uncaught errors, failed requests after a user action, and hanging requests are captured with nobody clicking anything; a user bug button is optional. Repeats of the same failure become one issue with browser replay rebuilt from DOM events. An authorized agent reads that issue over MCP after one sign-in.
