# BugTape vs LogRocket

LogRocket records sessions, product analytics, and errors, and its pricing page lists MCP. BugTape groups one failure with a short replay and hands that issue to your agent.

No account: `npx -y bugtape --help` prints the commands and does not sign you in. MCP needs one sign-in.

## What LogRocket publishes

Checked on LogRocket's own site on 2026-10-15:

- Session replay for web and native. Their pages call the replay pixel-perfect.
- Product analytics, including funnels and heatmaps.
- Error tracking for JavaScript exceptions, failed requests, crashes, stacks, and alerts.
- Galileo AI on their product pages.
- Pricing is based on sessions. Their pages say analytics, logs, and errors are unlimited.
- Their pricing page lists "MCP / API access". Read that page for which plan includes it. This page does not state a dollar price or a plan name for that line.

## What BugTape does

BugTape does not record every visit. It keeps a short buffer and sends it with a supported error or a user report. Repeats of the same failure become one issue. An authorized agent reads that issue over MCP after one sign-in. DOM replay is rebuilt from events. It is not a screen video. Hosted screenshots and voice notes are not stored. Fatal iOS crash capture is not available.

| MCP | Their pricing page lists MCP / API access. Read the page for the current plan. | MCP on every plan after one sign-in. `npx -y bugtape --help` needs no account. |

## When each fits

Use LogRocket when you want a recording and analytics for visits, including visits that did not fail. Use BugTape when you want the broken ones grouped, with evidence an agent can read. Use both when you already pay for session analytics and also want that agent loop.

## Similar tools

FullStory is in the same session-replay class. This page does not score FullStory. Jam, Marker.io, and BugHerd are bug-report widgets; see [Compare](/compare/). [BugTape and Sentry](/compare/sentry/) and [Switching from Highlight](/compare/highlight/) are separate pages. BugTape does not claim it is alone in offering MCP.

## FAQ

### Is BugTape a LogRocket replacement?

No. LogRocket records sessions, analytics, and errors. BugTape does not record every visit, and it does not publish funnels or heatmaps.

### Does LogRocket have error tracking and MCP?

Yes. Their pages describe error tracking, and their pricing page lists MCP / API access. This page does not say which plan includes MCP. Read their pricing page.

### Can I try BugTape with no account?

`npx -y bugtape --help` prints the commands and does not sign you in. The live demo runs in the browser and sends nothing. Connecting MCP needs one sign-in.

## Try the commands

```bash
npx -y bugtape --help
```
