# Bugsnag alternatives in 2026: price, mobile, replay and MCP

**Short answer:** For one platform that covers mobile, web and backend with tracing and replay, look at **Sentry**. For usage-based pricing with unlimited users, look at **Rollbar**. For a flat monthly price, **Honeybadger**. For Sentry-SDK compatibility you can self-host, **GlitchTip**. For crash reporting bundled with real user monitoring and APM, **Raygun**. For errors next to product analytics, **PostHog**. **BugTape** is the narrow option. I built it to hand bugs real users hit in the browser to your coding agent. It is not a mobile stability tool: its Swift package captures handled errors only, with no fatal crash capture.

No account: `npx -y bugtape --help` prints the commands and does not sign you in. The demo MCP at https://app.bugtape.ai/demo/mcp needs no sign-in. Your own workspace needs one.

If release stability scores for iOS and Android apps are why you chose Bugsnag, most of this list is a step sideways. Sentry is the closest match there.

Page owner: Jaco Veldsman, hi@bugtape.ai. Last checked 2026-11-02. I build BugTape, so read the BugTape row with that in mind. Every other row comes from the vendor's own pricing page or docs on 2 November 2026, linked below.

## How I'd choose

| If you need… | Pick |
|---|---|
| Mobile crash reporting plus tracing and replay in one place | Sentry |
| Many users on a small budget | Rollbar (unlimited users on Free) |
| One flat monthly bill | Honeybadger |
| To run it on your own servers | GlitchTip, or self-hosted Sentry |
| Crash reporting, RUM and APM from one vendor | Raygun |
| Errors beside product analytics | PostHog |
| Browser bugs your own coding agent picks up and fixes | BugTape, next to whichever tracker you keep |
| Release stability scores, on-premise, or fatal mobile crashes | Stay on Bugsnag, or pick Sentry. BugTape doesn't do these |

## A note on the name

On 2 November 2026 the pricing page was titled "BugSnag Pricing", and SmartBear's old Insight Hub address redirected to bugsnag.com. If you saw it sold as SmartBear Insight Hub, it is the same product.

## Notes on each tool

- **Bugsnag.** Paid prices only appear once the page's JavaScript runs, so lists that scraped the raw HTML show $0. [Bugsnag vs Sentry](/compare/bugsnag-vs-sentry/) has the starting prices I read on 18 October.
- **Sentry.** Seer, its AI debugger, costs $40 a month per active contributor on paid plans.
- **Rollbar.** Session replay is included on Free and is a paid add-on on paid plans. Its fix agent, Resolve, is in open beta.
- **Honeybadger.** Its hosted MCP server has an EU address as well (eu-mcp.honeybadger.io).
- **GlitchTip.** The MCP server is built in. On a self-hosted instance you turn it on with `GLITCHTIP_ENABLE_MCP`.
- **Raygun.** Its docs say the MCP server is hosted only, with no package to install.

## Where BugTape fits

BugTape is for the web side of an app. The browser SDK keeps a short buffer and sends it with an uncaught error, a failed or hung request, or a user's report. Repeats become one issue. Node.js and Python SDKs cover servers. The Swift package for iOS and macOS sends handled errors and breadcrumbs only.

Your agent connects to `https://app.bugtape.ai/mcp`, reads the ranked inbox and calls `get_repro_context` for the timeline, failed request, console and stack. It marks the issue as picked up with `ack_bug` and adds the pull request URL. A person reviews the pull request. If real users hit the same failure on a later release, the issue reopens as a regression.

## FAQ

### What is the best Bugsnag alternative for mobile apps?

Sentry, if you need crash reporting, tracing and replay in one tool. BugTape is not a mobile crash reporter: its Swift package has no fatal crash capture.

### What is the best free Bugsnag alternative?

On 2 November 2026, PostHog had the largest free allowance here at 100,000 exceptions a month. Rollbar's free plan has unlimited users. GlitchTip is free to self-host.

### Does Bugsnag have an MCP server?

Yes. SmartBear publishes `@smartbear/mcp` on npm, and on-premise installs bundle an MCP server.

### Is BugTape a Bugsnag replacement?

For a web app where you want browser bugs handed to a coding agent, it can be. For mobile stability, tracing or on-premise hosting, it isn't.
